Ross Creek Adventure Day

Wowzers!! What a day?! Who loved it? I certainly did! Do you know you guys were the first Balmacewen class EVER to do this trip? How fabulous is that? Tell me your highlights? What advice do you have for me if I take Room 7 in 2011?

Week 2

The weather is chilly again isn't it? I wonder when the weather will settle down?

We have another busy week, Athletics Day on Wednesday followed by our Teacher Only Day on Friday. Also don't forget to return your Ross Creek Adventure Day permission slip and money ASAP.

This week's country to tour is the USA! Remember the top tips from last week....imagine you are an actual tourist ~ what would you expect to see and do? Write as if you have actually seen the monuments or landmarks, use photoshop or create images with you visiting these places, remember presentation is key ~ scrappy bits of paper with pencil scribblings is not good enough, I am sure this week we will have a higher standard of presentation.

Almost time to go back

Hey everyone!

I hope you have all had a magical, restful, healthy and well deserved break away from school and break away from ME!

We have (as always) a busy start to the term...our big homework focus is the Amazing Race, this is where you and your desk groups travel around the globe, learning about different cultures, rituals and basic facts about each country, just like the programme too there will be a Road Block to complete each week.

You will be required to do most of this at home each week so as you are working in small groups, communication is going to be the key!

As always, we have lots of assessment to complete so we can group properly for maths and spelling.

What has been the highlight of your holidays? Mine has been joining the gym and doing heaps of Zumba!

Don't forget school closes at 1pm this Friday as we have a NZEI Union Meeting and Friday of Week 2 is teachers Only day (lucky you guys!)

Long Beach

We are 3 weeks away from heading to Long Beach for our Rock Climbing Challenge Day! Today we went for a drive out there to have a look around and there was infact a group of people climbing, so I've taken a few photos to show you all exactly where we climb! What do you think?

A proud moment!

A proud moment for Room 7

Well done all Room 7 students who ran today! I was immensely proud of each and every one of you that crossed the finish line; your positive attitudes, willingness to cheer yourself and peers along made me a very proud teacher! A special WELL DONE and CONGRATS to Thomas, Caleb, Jaidyn, Matthew and Emma D who all made it through to the OTAGO CHAMPS!! that is a seriously great effort to be proud of and of course you will all receive a BADGE! yay!

Another huge well done on your amazing focus during pubertal change lessons! I have been overwhelmed with your maturity and sensible questions that you've been asking! We haven't finished yet...next week we will be looking at the emotional changes that happen during puberty and how best to cope with these changes!

It's disco time! Who's going dancing? The School Council and I really hope to see you there and shaking your groove thing on Wednesday night!

I can smell my pizza cooking so it's time to sign off ! Have a super fabulous weekend, I know you have earned it for sure!

Week 5 - half way there!!

Changes at Puberty - What is everyone's general impressions? We probably have about one more week's worth of learning to do then we can look at the next aspect of our Challenge Unit which is looking at the Agencies in our community that can help us.

Cross Country on Friday; you guys have all made HUGE progress with your personal fitness, I really hope the rain stays away between now and then as the course has a tendency to become a mud bath! Do you remember what our class goal is?
